ART INSTALLATION: “WHALE PASSPORT”
A ‘whale passport’ was a specialized logging and scientific document issued for every individual whale harvested during the Soviet industrial whaling era. More than 50,000 of these original logbooks from the Antarctic Whaling Flotilla Yury Dolgoruky are preserved within the archives of the Museum of the World Ocean.
This installation features stylized record sheets that visually communicate the vast scale of the archive, serving as a powerful monument to the historical memory of the whaling industry.
